1 hour and a half walk through the Madrid de los Austrias, the most genuinely Madrid neighborhood. The focus of this visit will be the formation of the city under the Habsburg dynasty in the 16th and 17th centuries. Churches, squares and old palaces sown by streets and alleys, with an unmistakable flavour that turns Madrid into a severe and monumental city.

#2 Cosmopolitan escape: the Gran Via.

As Paris and New York do, Madrid also wanted to become a modern city.

+ Info

Walking through this avenue from east to west, until you arrive to the Barceló Torre de Madrid Hotel, allows you to trace the evolution of modern architecture in Spain, and to understand, through it, the recent history of the country. Illusions and dreams of the twentieth century were projected on this street, which has not ceased to be transformed into the twenty-first century. Bustling and commercial by day, at night the Gran Vía gets beautiful, becoming a real spectacle.
